Leeds Met and Leeds Carnegie combine to boost Tackled Pink campaign

Leeds Met Health and Leeds Carnegie have teamed up with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust to highlight the Guinness Premiership's Tackled Pink Campaign which aims to raise awareness of breast cancer.
This partnership builds on the pioneering work of the Faculty of Health with Leeds Carnegie where they have been staging weekly programmes of health promotion and screening, tackling men's health with spectators on match days.
The new pink-themed campaign seeks to use the sporting environment to engage with women and girls in relation to their health, encouraging them to be self aware, attend screening and where necessary take action.
Lee Blackett of Leeds Carnegie said "I'm happy to help tackle women's health - this weekend is all about showing your support for the women who are diagnosed with breast cancer each and every day here at Leeds General Infirmary and across the country."
The main message to women is "If you notice anything new or different about your breasts see your GP and if you are eligible for screening please make sure you have one." Belinda Archer and Trish Corem from the Macmillan Breast Screening Unit and Sue Hartup, Research Nurse.
There will be a whole host of events taking place at Leeds Carnegie's game at Gloucester this Saturday as part of the weekend long campaign, which will even see the referees in the Guinness Premiership dressed in pink. To find out more information click here.
