Leeds will host Italian side Rugby Calvisano in their next home game in the ERC Challenge Cup. For the last six seasons Calvisano have qualified for the Heineken Cup and it was in this competition when Leeds last played them. The sides faced each other just once in the 2005-06 season when they took part in the elite European tournament. Leeds managed a 33-16 win at Headingley Carnegie, thanks to tries from Tim Stimpson, Rob Rawlinson, Rayno Gerber and Tom Palmer, but the return leg at Calvisano's Sergio Lanfranchi Stadium was called off due to a frozen pitch and Leeds were awarded the win. The Italian side are currently second from bottom in Pool 5, whilst Leeds Carnegie top the table as do all the English clubs in the four other pool tables.
Leeds have won both their previous fixtures, whilst Calvisano have won one and lost one. In their first game of the European Challenge Cup Calvisano were the 54-19 winners against Dax but in the second game they were comprehensively defeated 61-28 by Castres Olympique.
