In this weeks edition of Carnegie Call Director of Rugby Stuart Lancaster looks ahead to his sides game with Leicester Tigers at Headingley Carnegie this Saturday, kick off 2.45pm.
HOW PLEASED WERE YOU WITH LAST WEEKS WIN?
Looking back at last weeks performance we were delighted to win in Franca against Dax. All teams recognise how difficult it is to win games in France and I was delighted with the application and professionalism shown by the players on and off the field which has given us great momentum going into this weeks game against Leicester.
ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS WEEKS GAME?
This week opponents are obviously a huge challenge for us. Their history, tradition and reputation puts them at the top of world rugby. We are looking forward to the challenge of taking them on. At the start of the season, the coaching staff and players talked about the challenge ahead and our desire to play in big games. Through their hard work, the players have got this opportunity at home to take on the current Guinness Premiership champions and it is a challenge that excites us all as a group. It will be nice to welcome back Jordan Crane and hopefully Ian Humphreys to Headingley Carnegie and obviously the game will see Leicester's new Director of Rugby Marcelo Loffreda take charge of his first Guinness Premiership game. His reputation as an outstanding coach was enhanced by the manner in which he prepared the Argentinean squad so that they gained a third place finish in the World Cup.
WILL YOU MAKE ANY CHANGES THIS WEEK?
We were fortunate to come away from Dax without too many injuries and, although there were one or two bumps and bruises, we will be fielding a reasonably settled side this week. We had some pleasing news this week with the return of Jon Dunbar. Jon has worked extremely hard since suffering his hamstring injury in the second game of the season, and has earned a return on the bench on Saturday. Mike MacDonald and Vili Ma'asi have both recovered from minor injuries and will take their place in the front row.
