Rob Rawlinson's testimonial committee today announced that his testimonial game will be the pre season friendly fixture between Leeds Carnegie and Newcastle Falcons on Sunday 17th August at Headingley Carnegie Stadium.
David Croft, General Manager of Gala Casino and Chairman of Rob Rawlinson's testimonial committee, who are organising the game said, "This should be a fantastic day for Rob and it will be a great opportunity for fans to pay tribute to a player who has been a loyal servant to the club for ten seasons. I know his team mates will want to make this a special occasion and help him begin his testimonial season in the best possible style."
Rawlinson is the club's longest serving player, having joined Leeds back in 1999. During his time at Headingley Carnegie he has twice helped the side win promotion to the top flight as National One Champions in the 2000-01 and 2006-07 seasons. In 2005 he was part of one of the most memorable days in the club's history when Leeds defeated Bath at Twickenham to clinch the Powergen Cup trophy. He has made a total of 169 appearances for Leeds and is third in the all time list for most appearances for the team.
Commenting on Rob's outstanding service, Leeds Carnegie's Chief Executive Gary Hetherington said, "Rob has been a terrific servant who has given so much both on and off the field. I am sure the fans appreciate this and I hope he gets as much support throughout his testimonial year as he has given over the past ten years."
