Headingley Carnegie hosted four mini rugby teams on Friday night who entertained the crowd at half time in our EDF Energy Cup clash with Saracens.
Youngsters from Wath, Wensleydale, Yarnbury and Leos all played at half time and had a fantastic experience throughout the whole night including watching the thrilling ten-try clash with Saracens. Every year, Leeds Carnegie work with thousands of children right across Yorkshire through the work of the Leeds Rugby Foundation. Part of the partnership with local clubs is the opportunity for sides to play at half time at Headingley Carnegie. This is a chance for the Leeds Carnegie stars of the future to show what they can do and most importantly have fun with their team mates on the big stage.
Ben Jones from Wensleydale said, "It was really fun because it was the first time I've played on a proper pitch," and his team mate Matthew Frase agreed, "It was good and nice to be in front of a crowd." Jonathan Harrobin from Wath added, "Thank you very much for an inspiring game of rugby. I felt so professional in the game."
