Two's Company - Rob Rawlinson's weekly column

In his column this week Leeds Carnegie's club captain Rob Rawlinson, who is currently celebrating his testimonial season, reflects on another win for the Carnegie men and also previews the team's next home game against Coventry on Sunday 19th October.

The feeling after last weekend's game was one of disappointment not because of the way we played but the fact we lost our clean sheet record when we were only three minutes away from doing what no other team has done in league history in not conceding a point in three games, but credit to Sedgley Park for not giving in and pushing themselves until the final whistle.
With the conditions last Saturday as perfect as they come in the glorious sunshine we set about the Tigers with a real high tempo and pegged them back in their half with some tactical kicking and strong running, although some sections of our supporters were getting a little frustrated with the amount of ball we were kicking, this was something we had planned to do early doors to get as much territory as possible so we were playing all the rugby in their half, forcing them to make errors in their danger zone so we were able to capitalise on their mistakes which we did, so there is some method in our madness sometimes!!
It was good to see so many Leeds shirts, flags and banners inside the ground at Sedgley and hopefully that will continue to grow the more wins we get as we are starting to play some real attractive rugby.
This week's opponents, Coventry, will be a tough challenge as they never know when they are beat and they will push us for the full 80 minutes, meaning our resilient defence will be tested once again. It will be a game that our Head Coach Backy will want to win as it is his home town club, so our boys will be doing all we can to make sure that happens for him and also for us as a squad so it continues our winning run.
Hopefully we will see you on Sunday for another entertaining game, and your sunburn from the weekend is healing well!!

All the best
Rawly.
