On Saturday the 12th April Hemingbrough Primary School took part in the EDF Energy Final at Twickenham. The school were representing Leeds Carnegie and played a team representing Sale Sharks. Hemingbrough came 2nd in the contest 4 tries to three thanks to a last minute try from the opposition.
The children did a lap of honour prior to the game featuring the Ospreys and Leicester with representatives from all other Guinness Premiership teams in front of a massive 65,000 strong crowd.
The team had a fantastic day that they will never forget and received goodie bags to take home.
Hemingbrough had been chosen to take part in the event beating off 30 other schools in the Yorkshire Region and will be given a set of tags and balls for taking part.
The children were very nervous before taking part, as some of them had never been to a professional stadium before or played in front of such a big crowd.
Leeds Carnegie have worked in over 40 schools in the Selby, Sherburn and Tadcaster area who are all being invited to a special Yorkshire Schools Tag Rugby Event on the 4th July at Harewood House involving 100 schools from Leeds and North Yorkshire. Schools can confirm their interest in taking part by contacting gareth.cook@leedsrugby.com
