Tom Biggs has equalled the record set by Dan Scarbrough to become the joint top try scorer in the clubs history. Biggs' effort in the 69th minute was his 37th try for the club since making his debut in 2004.
Biggs, a former Leeds Met student, has been one of the side's most consistent and exciting performers since he burst onto the scene in the 2004-05 season and he has now confirmed his place in the history books at Leeds Carnegie.
Biggs scored his first try for Leeds in just his second game for the club against Leicester Tigers, and it was a try to remember with the winger demonstrating his blistering pace and superb agility, which has gone on to make him a crowd favourite.
He ended his first season in the senior squad with a further 3 tries in the league and a 5 more tries in that year's Cup competitions.
In his second season he began his try scoring campaign with a try on the opening day of the season against London Irish and went onto finish the season as the club's top try scorer with a total of 10. In the 2006-07 season, despite being ruled out of the side with injury for a long period of the season Biggs was still able to register 9 tries in 17 appearances, which included a brace of tries on the day Leeds secured their promotion to the Guinness Premiership with victory over Otley.
This season the Hull born winger has already notched up 9 tries, 5 of which have come in the Guinness Premiership campaign, to make him one of the most prolific scorers in the competition.
Speaking after the London Irish game, Leeds Director of Rugby Stuart Lancaster paid tribute to the former Academy player, "It's a fantastic achievement for Tom to have equalled Scarbrough's record at such a young age and he nearly got the chance break the record later on in the game. I think he looked sharp and challenged throughout the match and I am sure there is still much more to come from him."
