New rugby camp dates revealed

Leeds Carnegie are extremely proud of the reputation the community team have built over recent years, with thousands of youngsters from right across Yorkshire having taken part in the Carnegie community programme in one form or another.  This February Half Term period offers youngsters the chance to develop their skills further by attending a 2 day rugby camp with the Leeds Carnegie community team.
One of our key objectives is to help develop the sport at grass roots level, ensuring that youngsters learn some real rugby skills as well as enjoying themselves.  We firmly believe that Leeds Carnegie players play a fundamental part in passing on some of their knowledge to children, which is why we always try to have players attend our camps to pass on their rugby experience and skills.  No other rugby camp programme in Yorkshire has the access to current professional players on offer that Leeds Carnegie can provide.
The Leeds Carnegie rugby camp programme is spearheaded by England and British Lion international, John Bentley, now the community Marketing Manager for the club.  John Bentley was a key figure, and a huge personality, in the Lions 2-1 Test success in 1997 and is one of the elite body of players to have gained international honours in both Rugby Union and League.
John is assisted by three members of the Leeds Carnegie community team, Adam Blades, Gareth Cook and Adam Falkner.  Adam Blades has worked for Leeds for nearly four years and plays as a prop for neighbouring Halifax RUFC in National Division Two and boasts a call up to the England Counties squad as one of his greatest rugby achievements.  Gareth joined Leeds in the summer of 2005 and immediately helped deliver the highly successful summer camp programme that year having previously worked with the RFU as a Rugby Community coach.  Similarly, Adam Falkner has recently joined the club following a stint working with the RFU as a Rugby Community Coach and has previously coached on many rugby camps.  Leeds Carnegie are assisted by coaching staff from the Yorkshire RFU with whom we work very closely.
With players grouped accordingly to age, size and position, the Leeds Carnegie coaching staff aim to improve the skills of every player that takes part, including:
. Tackling
. Evasion skills
. Rucking & Mauling
. Decision Making
. Kicking

SAFETY & SUPERVISION
The most important aspect of a Leeds Carnegie Rugby Camp is safety.  All the coaches involved are RFU qualified and have previously worked with groups of young rugby players.  As such all coaching staff are CRB checked.
There are an increasing number of sport camp programmes in today's market place, some which are very good and others which are not.  We work closely with the Yorkshire RFU ensuring that the coaching youngsters receive is both safe and beneficial.  We would recommend that parents check prior to booking their youngsters on any form of camp that they are accredited to do so.
We do advise that children who wish to attend do wear any protective clothing that is normally used, although special consideration will be made for contact situations.  Gum shields are compulsory.
