Leeds Career
After finishing his debut season as the club's top try scorer, Birmingham born Leigh Hinton was once again in impressive form last season as one of the side's most consistent performers. Leigh missed just one game all season and scored four tries, which included his first ever hat trick for the club against Calvisano. He also demonstrated his accurate kicking game and registered 26 points with his successful kicks.
In his first season at Headingley Carnegie he scored a remarkable 302 points to become the league's top point scorer. It was the highest points total from a Leeds player since Richard Le Bas helped take the side to the Premiership back in the 2000-01 season. Leigh also scored some important tries, one of which came in the win over Exeter, when his try as well as his two conversions and penalty secured the team a 25-18 victory to maintain their position at the top of the table. In his 24 appearances for Leeds Carnegie that season he registered 8 tries, 68 conversions and 42 penalties.
Rugby Career
Before his move to Headingley Carnegie Leigh played for Moseley, Birmingham Solihull, Orrell and Bedford in National Division One. In the 2003-04 season he set new records for tries and conversions in a season for Orrell, with 313 points then the following year he was leading points scorer in the division with Bedford, finishing 60 points clear of Bristol's Jason Strange and helping the Blues to their Powergen Shield victory at Twickenham, scoring nine of his sides 14 points in the Final. At Newport Gwent Dragons, after making his debut against Glasgow Warriors he went onto make a further seven appearances for the side, but it was a frustrating period for the full back, and he registered just one try and two conversions.
