Leeds Career

After signing from Gloucester at the start of the 2007-08 season Jon Goodridge made his Leeds Carnegie debut at the beginning of the season against his former club and went onto appear another 14 times over the campaign.  His first try for the Carnegie men came in the team's first win of the season against Worcester Warriors. He possesses an excellent long range kicking game and being left footed he gives the team plenty of options. His great kicking game will help develop the team and his excellent counter attacking abilities will continue to progress further under Leeds Carnegie's attacking systems.

Rugby Career

When Jon joined the club he brought with him a wealth of experience having made his debut with Gloucester as a teenager in 2000.
Jon played his early rugby at fly half but demonstrated his flexibility when he established himself as a full back.
Jon's career at Kingsholm really kicked off in the 2003-04 season when a recall to the side allowed him to show what he could do and develop his skills in the first team. He made 14 league appearances that season and a further six appearances in the Cup competitions, which included two try scoring efforts against Munster and Benetton Treviso in the Heineken Cup. He was rewarded for his contribution to the team that year when he was named the club's Young Player of the Year and he was also short listed for the PRA young player of the year. The following season he had firmly established himself in the team and was an ever present in the league as well as the Powergen and Heineken Cup runs. Whilst at the Cherry and Whites he made over 50 appearances.
In the 2004-05 season he became the team's most regular player for the second consecutive season, however during the 2006-07 season he lost his place and spent part of the season on loan with National One side Pertemps Bees, coming up against Leeds on two occasions. He showed that he was still at the top of the game and was named as the best full back in the division.

Personal Details

The player who Jon most admires is Christian Cullen and when he isn't playing he is studying for his degree or playing golf. The most memorable game he has played in was when Gloucester took on Munster in the Heineken Cup and he thinks John Holtby is his funniest team mate.
