Leeds Career

Leeds born Joe Bedford joined Leeds Carnegie last season from Rotherham Titans and became an integral member of the squad and was an almost ever present for the team, missing just three fixtures throughout the campaign and scoring four tries.  His first try came against Newcastle in a narrow defeat at Kingston Park whilst his other tries came against Castres, Calvisano and Lonson Wasps.
This is Joe's second stint at the club with the scrum half having been part of the club's Academy system as a youngster, where he was coached by former Leeds Director of Rugby Stuart Lancaster.

Rugby Career

He left Leeds in 2002 and joined Sale Sharks but was unable to force his way into the starting line up and left Edgeley Park in 2004 for Saracens. He spent just one season here but again was unable to get his big break in the first team. Keen to get regular first team action and to develop his game further Joe took the opportunity to join ambitious National One side Rotherham. It was here that Joe was given the opportunity to prove his abilities in the first team and the move proved to be beneficial for both club and player. Joe made his debut for the Titans in a defeat against Nottingham but they were able to turn things round and that season Rotherham's young squad finished fourth in the league, their best finish in two years and Joe, who was an almost ever present in the side, was a key player in this success. His progression at the club was evident the following season when Head Coach Andre Bester named Joe as captain. Again he was a regular in the first team and helped the South Yorkshire outfit push Leeds Carnegie all the way in the race for the National One title, a massive achievement for the part time club. He made 53 appearances in total for the Titans and scored 15 tries, 10 of these coming in his last season at the club.

Personal Details

Joe's favourite film is Happy Gilmore. The first record he bought was Rhythm is a Dancer by Snap, although these days he prefers listening to Kaiser Chiefs. Whilst at Rotherham he was also their Community Manager and away from the game he enjoys playing golf.
