Leeds Career
Hendre Fourie's signed for Leeds in the summer of 2007 but his career at the club got off to a cruel start when he injured his bicep during the opening minute of his debut game. The injury was to keep him out of the side for almost six months, however when he returned he finally got to show what he could do and proved to be an exciting addition to the team. Over the season he made nine appearances in the starting line up and one at replacement and scored two tries.
Rugby Career
Before joining Leeds Carnegie, Hendre had previously played in his home country with South African sides Shimlas and Maties. Hendre then moved to Yorkshire to sign for the Titans after playing with the University of Free State and the Vodacom Cheetahs, where he played alongside former Leeds prop Rayno Gerber. He made his Titans debut on the opening day of the 2005-06 season and played alongside Leeds Carnegie team mates Lee Blackett and John Holtby. He made 19 appearances for the side that year and notched up six tries and was duly named Rotherham's Player of the Year after a barnstorming season.
Last year he was a regular in the Titans' side and again was in outstanding form in the 29 games he played for the team. In both matches against Leeds Carnegie last season he made a big impression with two standout performances that caught the eye of the Leeds Carnegie coaches, who were keen to sign the back rower. In his last season he scored 11 tries and helped the team push Leeds all the way in the race for the National One title.
