Andy is a blindside flanker who since joining the Leeds Academy team has earned high acclaim as one of the brightest prospects at the club. Last year he continued his development and flourished in the first team environment. He was a regular for the A team and helped the side to a 27-19 win over Worcester with a try in the Guinness A League fixture.
andy grew up in Leeds before moving to Bristol where he was picked up by Bristol Shoguns. He moved back to his home city to study Law and Management and then joined the Leeds Academy during the 2004-05 season. In the Academy he was coached by former Leeds Carnegie Director of Rugby, Stuart Lancaster, who recognised the young player's talent.
In 2006 he played in the side who defeated Wharfedale 22-11 to capture the Yorkshire Cup and at the beginning of the 2006-07 season he was rewarded for his performances in the Academy set up by being promoted to the senior squad, where in the full time environment he continued his development.
Andy has represented the England U19 squad in the World Championship in South Africa. He scored on his debut for England U19 in 2005 when the team defeated Wales 24-10 at Aberavon and later that year he experienced one of the highs of his career so far when he was a member of the England U19 squad who claimed an historic Six Nations Grand Slam victory. The first time an English team at that level has achieved such a feat.
Andy's favourite film is Any Given Sunday and at school he enjoyed studying History. The sportsperson he most admires is Lance Armstrong and he supports both Leeds Rhinos and Leeds United.
