Leeds Carnegie Oxigen Screensaver

Overview

Leeds Carnegie fans are being offered an exciting new way to stay in touch with their favourite rugby team - absolutely free!

The Carnegie Screensaver is the latest information service allowing you to keep up-to-date with all the latest news and photos from the Club, without having to lift a finger.  While your computer snoozes you can enjoy a selection of eye-catching match photos, player profiles, trivia, statistics and much more!

And unlike a normal screensaver you'll never get bored of this one because once installed it will automatically update bringing you all the latest Carnegie news, reports and photos straight to your desktop.

The screensaver operates like a slide carousel, showing each slide for 15 seconds, and provides a lively mix of information, as well as a small number of adverts, which finance the service - so you don't pay a penny.

Computer Requirements

The Carnegie Screensaver has been designed for computers using Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Vista operating systems, with a minimum display resolution of 1024x768 pixels.

Installation

Ensure you are logged on to your PC with administrative privileges.

1. Click the download link/button
   
2. Select 'Open' or 'Run'
3. Click 'Setup'
4. Read and 'Accept' the terms and conditions and click 'Next'
5. If you use a Proxy Server to access the Internet, enter the details in the 'Proxy Server Settings' area.
6. Click 'Next'
7. Enter your details - 'Country'
8. Click 'Next' and enter your 'State/Region', 'Year of Birth' and 'Gender
9. Click 'Next'
10. Installation Directory:
    • If you wish to install Oxigen to any other directory than C:\Program Files\Oxigen click 'Change', enter the desired path and click 'OK'.
11. Click 'Next'
    
12. Click 'Finish' to complete the installation.

FAQ

• Administrator Privileges - You must be logged in with Administrator privileges to install the Oxigen screensaver on your PC.  Please check this status before attempting to re-install the software.
  
  
• Windows Installer - Your PC requires Microsoft Windows Installer to install the Oxigen screensaver. If you do not have the program installed you can download it from http://www.microsoft.com/.

a) Firewall Restrictions

Oxigen requests images via the Internet using http, like your browser.  Your PC's firewall(s) may, by default, require you to give explicit permission to applications to access the Internet and hence, may be blocking Leeds Carnegie Screensaver updates.  To correct this, configure your firewall to allow the applications Oxigen.exe and OxiProc.exe to communicate with leedscarnegie.oxigen.net.

b) Proxy Server Settings

PCs in some large organisations communicate with the Internet via a proxy server.  If your PC does, you will need to configure the screensaver with your proxy settings:

• Go to Start-Control Panel and click Internet Options
• Click Connections tab and then the LAN Settings button
• If the Proxy Server fields are filled in, make a note of the values
• Right click on the Oxigen icon on your Windows tool bar and select Options
• Update the Proxy Server Connection section with the settings noted above

c) My screensaver has stopped receiving updates

If you have received updates in the past but your screensaver appears to have stopped receiving them, it is possible that an automatic Windows Update has corrupted your installation.  The solution to this is to de-install and re-install as below:

• Click Start - Settings - Control Panel
• Double click the Add/Remove Programs icon
• Scroll down to Oxigen Client and select it
• Click the Remove button
• Click Yes to confirm and follow the remove wizard through
• Reinstall the software by following the original installation instructions

d) Will the Leeds Carnegie Screensaver allow viruses or unwanted third parties onto my PC?

No. The screensaver operates in the same way as an Internet browser. It requests images from a server on the Internet on a regular basis. The images are not sent to your computer by a server trying to connect to your machine from the Internet.

e) Why do the images not display correctly on my PC?

The Leeds Carnegie Screensaver has been designed for computers with a minimum display resolution of 1024x768 pixels.  Open Control Panel - Display - Settings and check that your display resolution is at least 1024x768 pixels.
If the 15-second animated slides do not display correctly on your PC, you may need to update your version of Flash Player.
