Leeds Career
Yorkshireman Dan Hyde joined the Tykes from West Hartlepool in the summer of 2000 and became one of most consistent players throughout a long hard season. A no-nonsense back row, Dan came up from the National Divisions with the Tykes and became established player in the Zurich Premiership. In the 2004-05 season Dan made 8 starts and 4 substitute appearances, he scored his first try of the campaign against London Irish during the Tykes 16-12 win and then scored another against Worcester Warriors in the European Shield semi final. Dan earned a Powergen Cup winners medal last season when he came on from the bench in the Twickenham Final. In the 2005-06 capaign which was to be his last season for the club Dan made 5 starts and 8 appearnces off the bench to bring his career total at Leeds to 121, in which he notched up 16 tries.
Rugby Career
Dan joined the Tykes from West Hartlepool where he played three seasons after making his debut in April 1998, the clubs promotion winning season into the top division. He damaged knee ligaments at the start of the following season which limited his appearances to just seven starts and two replacement appearances in the top flight. He did however score tries against London Scottish and Harlequins. Prior to joining Wests, Dan played for Huddersfield and represented Yorkshire Colts and U21's plus representative games for England Universities and Students. After two outstanding seasons for the Tykes, Dan's efforts were recognised by the England selectors with his inclusion in the Churchill Cup squad 2002 and then lined up for England at Twickenham in the non-capped game against the Barbarians in June 2004 before repeating his role in the Churchill Cup.
Personal Details
Dan rates his former coach at West Hartlepool, Mike Brewer, as the greatest influence on his career. At University Dan studied to become a surveyor and in his spare time he enjoys fly fishing.
