Leeds Career
Scrum half Care learnt his rugby at Prince Henry's Grammar School in Otley. He joined the Tykes in 2003 and was also part of the Tykes team that won the National Colts cup in 2004. Despite Danny being selected for the Tykes trip to Grenoble, Daniel did not make his first appearance for the Tykes until the second leg of the tie against VRAC, he made a suitably impressive debut though, scoring a try and three conversions, before a broken ankle disrupted his involvement. His second appearance in the first team again came in the European Shield competition when he was selected for the side to take on Worcester Warriors in the semi final. The 2005-06 season was a real breakthrough for Danny, and with his mature style he gained many admirers in his 10 appearances for the club in which he scored 2 tries, and left many predicting he would be a future star for England. Following the Tykes relegation at the end of the 2005-06 season Danny left the Tykes, having made 12 first team appearances.
Rugby Career
Danny had a great season in 2003-2004 playing for England U18 Clubs before being elevated to the England U19 squad to play Ireland along with Team mate David Doherty, despite being a year younger than the rest of the squad. While playing for his school he inspired the team to success in the Daily Mail Vase Competition at Twickenham. Last season Danny benefited from the training he received while part of the Junior National Academy and was selected for the U19 side for the trip to South Africa in the World Championship, but unfortunately had to return home after a knee injury at the beginning of the tournament. The following season he made up for this disappointment by gaining a place in the England Sevens squad who travelled to Melbourne for the Commonwealth games and picked up a silver medal on the way. He then helped England U19 to their best ever finish in the IRB U19 World Championship, scoring a try in England's third/fourth play off with France to secure a third place.
