Leeds Career

Justin Marshall's signing was one of the most eagerly anticipated in the Premiership, with the New Zealander being one of the highest profile signings the club had ever made. With a proven track record in his homeland, great things were expected from the scrum half, with many predicting he would give that extra edge to the Powergen Cup winners. However despite a disappointing first season with the club, in which the side were unable to lift themselves from the bottom of the Premiership, Justin left the club to join Welsh outfit Neath-Swansea Ospreys. In total Justin made 25 appearances for the club in all competitions including the Heineken Cup and scored 3 tries.

Rugby Career

Justin Marshall is the highest capped half-back in All Black history. He has scored 24 Test tries, which is a record for New Zealand and the tally more than doubles the next best held by Sid Going. Justin began his rugby career with Southland and was then asked to join Christchurch by Canterbury coach Vance Stewart and it was whilst here that Justin first made the break into the All Blacks side for the 1995 tour of Italy and France. Justin was just aged 22 when he made his debut against France in New Zealand's 37-2 win. Two years after this debut Justin was made captain of New Zealand and led out his team in four Tests in Great Britain, becoming the All Black's 54th Test Captain. He has made 81 appearances for the All Blacks, with an impressive record of 60 wins, 1 draw and just 19 defeats. Last season he played for Crusaders in Super 12, with whom he had spent 10 years with and had scored 23 tries for. During this time he established himself as not only one of the outstanding performers in the Super 12 but in World Rugby. He has been a hugely influential figure for the Crusaders and has helped them to five Super 12 titles, his final title coming in 2005.

Personal Details

In his spare time Justin likes to play cricket and golf and if he wasn't a rugby player he would like to be a carpenter.
