Leeds Career

Daryl Powell has been part of the Leeds Carnegie coaching team since July 2005. He was initially brought in as attacking coach under former Director of Rugby Phil Davives however his role was expanded to first team coach during the course of that first season. Following relegation and the appointment of Stuart Lancaster as Director of Rugby, Powell became part of the new coaching team at Leeds Carnegie working with Lancaster and Assistant Coach Simon Middleton on team structure during the Guinness Premiership campaign. Following the arrival of new Director of Rugby Andy Key and Head Coach Neil Back, Powell moved into a new creating position of Assistant Backs & Skills Coach and is a key part of the Leeds coaching team.

Rugby Career

After a playing career that spanned over 450 games, Daryl Powell became Head Coach at Leeds Rhinos in 2001. He steered them the Challenge Cup Final at Cardiff in 2003. At the end of that season he moved to a new role of Director of Rugby. In 2003 he was appointed Head Coach of Ireland for the European Nations and also been assistant coach for Yorkshire. During his playing career he played in 33 Tests for Great Britain, whilst playing at Sheffield and Keighley. At the Rhinos he played in the 1998 Grand Final and the Challenge Cup Finals in 1999 and 2000.
