When Samoan international Fosi Pala'amo joined Leeds Carnegie he certainly made a big impression. He provides the team with real power in the pack and is a good scummager and ball carrier. Fosi made his debut for Leeds Carnegie in their first win of the season against Worcester Warriors before going onto play 16 times for the club that season. One of his most memorable performances came against Leicester Tigers when he stunned the Welford Road crowd with a try in the opening minute of the game.
The prop forward played for Irish provincial side Leinster last season and was part of the Samoa squad who took part in the Pacific Nations Cup this summer. He made his debut for Samoa in the 1998-99 Rugby World Cup qualifying matches and has since made a total of nine appearances for his country.
Fosi originally comes from Vailoa in Samoa and was included in Samoa's stand by squad for the 2007 World Cup in France, having played in the Pacific Nations Cup this summer against Fiji in their final game of the tournament.
He made his debut for Samoa against Tonga in 1998 and went onto start the games against Fiji and Australia that year as qualification for the World Cup in Wales.
The following year he was involved in a further five Tests, including games against France and New Zealand in June 1999, although he missed out on selection for the World Cup. However, there was an eight year absence from the international set up when he moved to Australia and played his club rugby with Sydney based club Randwick. However, a move to Europe saw him once again pulling on the Samoan shirt.
In 2007 Fosi was called into the Samoan squad for the 2007 World Cup, where he was thrown straight into the deep end with a place in the side against defending champions England.
