Leeds Career
A sensational first season for Dan Scarborough at Leeds Tykes in 2001-2002 saw him finish as top scorer at the club and runner up in the Zurich Premiership. Dan made his debut for the Tykes on their first game in the Premiership against Bath, when the Tykes claimed a surprise win to begin their first campaign in the top flight. His first try came against Bristol and he went on to score a further 11 tries in the league, 4 in the European Shield and one against Newcastle in the Powergen Cup. In that first year his performances earned him a number of accolades, he was named Supporters Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and he was also awarded the BBC North Rugby Union Player of the Year. Dan began the next season in try scoring form, with 2 tries in the opening win over Leicester Tigers. He also helped the Tykes to wins over Harlequins, Northampton and Saracens. In his final season at the club Dan once again opened his try scoring account on the first day of the Premiership against Bath and went on to score a further 9 tries. His try against Newcastle saw the Tykes claim their first victory over the Falcons and he scored the only two tries in the Powergen Cup semi final defeat to Sale.
