Pendlebury joined Leeds Carnegie at the end of the 2007-08 season, returning to Yorkshire having previously played in the county with Rotherham. The second rower then moved to Gloucester, where he represented the side in the Guinness Premiership and Heineken Cup. The ambitious young player is now looking for a new challenge and will be aiming to use his experience to help Leeds Carnegie regain their position in the top flight.
Rotherham born Pendlebury made a promising start to his rugby career and earned representative honours with England at U18, U19 and U21 level, this culminated in him being selected for the England U21 side who played in the FIRA World Cup in 2003. He was a member of the Bath Academy structure before he was signed for Gloucester in the 2004-05 season. He made his first team debut for the Cherry and Whites against Toulon in the European Challenge Cup the following season and played a key role in their success in the competition that year, appearing in the starting line up in the final against London Irish where Gloucester triumphed 36-34. Competition for places from the likes of Marco Bortolami, Alex Brown and Will James resulted in Pendlebury missing out on regular first team action but his undoubted skill and his competitive desire mean he still has a bright career ahead of him. In total he made 25 appearances for Gloucester which included appearing for the side in the Heineken Cup.
