Apolosi came to Headingley Carnegie on trial during the summer after being recommended to Director of Rugby Stuart Lancaster by Army Sevens player coach Howard Graham. Major Graham is a former schoolmate of Lancaster's and helped coach Leeds this year for the Middlesex Sevens. Apo appeared for Sale that day and impressed Lancaster enough for him to offer the Fijian international a trial with Leeds Carnegie. Apo went onto make 8 appearances for the club and provided the side with a good attacking threat when he played. He scored his first try for the club against Saracens in the EDF Cup and scored a further two tries against Bath.
A member of the winning Army Middlesex Sevens team in both 2001 and 2004, he has a prolific try scoring record, making most of them look simple. Apo represented Fiji in the 2005 World Cup Sevens and returned from Hong Kong with a winners medal. In a recent RWC qualifier versus Tonga, Apo was named Man of the Match. He is married to Olivia and they have two children and is a Private in the Army serving with The Royal Scots.
He made his debut for Fiji in the XV man game back in June 2005 against Tonga and made further subsequent appearances against Samoa and Tonga again that summer.
He returned to the side in June this year to play Australia, with all four of his caps coming in the back row. However, he is a versatile player and can also fit in comfortably in the centres.
Whilst serving with the Royal Scots, Satala played for Heriot's FP and was part of the back up support squad for the Edinburgh Gunners in 2004-05.
Apolosi hails from Suva and was educated at the Lelean High School. He is one of four brothers who have represented Fiji at XVs and Sevens and has made a considerable impact on Army and Combined Services rugby.
