Leeds Career

An instant hit with Leeds fans when he scored the historic first ever try in the Zurich Premiership when the Tykes defeated Bath on the opening day of the season.
Cameron gave 100% for Leeds his debut season, which included a man of the match performance against Bristol at Headingley and he certainly made an impression in his first year with the club. In his second season at the club he was an almost ever present making 21 appearances and scored a try in the wins against Harlequins and in his final game for the club against Saracens in the Play Offs.

Rugby Career

Cameron made a significant contribution when he was introduced as a substitute to Scotland A's Grand Slam clinching victory against England A in March, 1998, the fifth of his 10 appearances at that level. He went on to play in three matches on Scotland's 1998 tour of Fiji and Australia, having figured in two matches on Scotland's tour of southern Africa the previous year. He played in the World Cup qualifying match against Spain in December 1998 before being included in the World Cup squad in 1999. Earlier in his career he appeared for the Scotland Development XV, captaining that side against Queensland in 1996-97. He also represented Scotland in the 1997 RWC Sevens in Hong Kong. Mather joined Watsonians in the 1993-94 season from the East Coast Bays club in North Harbour, having represented the province at both sevens and XVs and having played also for New Zealand Universities. At Watsonians he was named Tennent's Player of the Season as the Edinburgh club won their first Championship in 28 years in 1998. Following the World Cup, Mather moved south to join Worcester however after a frustrating season with injury in 2000-2001, he decided to join Leeds.
